Fe-CuNi Type J Thermocouple Compensating&Extension Wire for Scientific Applications


Type J thermocouples consist of iron (Fe) and copper-nickel (CuNi), with the positive wire being black and the negative wire white. They are marked with JX for thermowire and JC for compensating wire, although DIN EN 60584-3 does not define compensating wires for Type J. Type J thermocouples operate from -40°C to +350°C, with extension wires rated for 0 to 200°C . They are suitable for short-term use up to 750°C and long-term use up to 600°C. They are used in vacuum, oxidizing, reducing, or inert atmospheres, making them ideal for industrial processes, air conditioning technology, and complex industrial applications. The extension wires have a conductor cross-section of 0.22 mm², an outer diameter of approximately 3.4 mm, and are halogen-free, flame retardant, and self-extinguishing. Type J thermocouples have a tolerance class of ±1.5°C/±0.4%t, ensuring accuracy in temperature measurement.

The operating temperature range of type J thermocouple is -210~1200℃ , but it is usually used in the temperature range 0~750℃ due to embrittlement of Iron.


Type J thermocouple has good resistance to oxidation and high EMF output against Platinum 67, with good temperature accuracy, sensitivity and stability. It is recommended for vacuum, oxidizing, reducing or inert atmospheres, but it can not be used in sulphurous atmosphere above 500℃ .
