The material primarily consists of carbon, with trace elements like manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and others, depending on the specific alloy grade.

This material conforms to the ASME SA423 specification, which defines the requirements for carbon steel tubes used in the construction of heat exchangers, superheaters, and other heat transfer equipment in power plants and industrial applications.

SA423 Gr. 1 carbon steel tubes typically exhibit good tensile strength, yield strength, and toughness at elevated temperatures.

The material is designed to withstand high-pressure conditions, with good resistance to internal and external stresses.

• Carbon: 0.18% - 0.23%
• Manganese: 0.30% - 0.60%
• Phosphorus: ≤ 0.035%
• Sulfur: ≤ 0.035%

• Chromium:≤ 0.20%
• Nickel:≤ 0.20%

Mechanical Properties:

• Tensile Strength: 415 - 550 MPa (60 - 80 ksi)
• Yield Strength: 205 MPa (30 ksi) min.
• Elongation: 30% min. (in 8 inches)
• Hardness: 150 HB (Brinell Hardness) max.
• Impact Toughness: Not typically specified, but the material is designed to withstand impacts at elevated temperatures.
