Corrosion Resistant TFS / Tinplate Coil for Durable and
Long-Lasting Packaging Solutions
Definition and composition:
TFS: Tin-free steel sheet, is a thin layer of chromium or chromium
oxide film formed on the surface of cold-rolled thin steel sheet
through electroplating or chemical conversion to provide corrosion
resistance.
Tinplate: Also known as tinplate, it is a sheet with a thin layer
of metal tin on both sides of cold-rolled thin steel sheet.
Performance characteristics
1. Excellent corrosion resistance:
TFS: Chromium and chromium oxide do not react with sulfur and
alkali, so they have good resistance to sulfur and alkali, and also
have good corrosion resistance to the atmosphere, organic solvents,
oils, etc.
Tinplate: The tin layer can effectively isolate the contact between
air and moisture and the steel substrate to prevent rust.
2. Paintability and printability:
TFS has strong adsorption and wettability to paint, which is more
than 2-5 times the adhesion of the same paint on tinplate, which is
conducive to surface treatment such as painting and printing, and
can achieve exquisite packaging design and enhance the appearance
of the product.
3. Hygiene and safety:
Non-toxic: TFS and tinplate are non-toxic in themselves and meet
food hygiene standards. They can be directly used for packaging of
food, medicine, etc., without causing harm to human health, and can
ensure the hygiene and safety of the contents.
Application areas
1. Food packaging: widely used in making various canned foods, such
as canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned meat, canned fish,
etc., which can effectively maintain the flavor and nutrients of
food and extend the shelf life of food.
2. Beverage packaging: It is a common material for beverage cans,
such as carbonated beverage cans, beer cans, juice cans, etc. Its
good corrosion resistance and pressure resistance can withstand the
pressure of beverages and the erosion of acidic substances.
3. Chemical product packaging: It can be used to package chemical
products such as paints, coatings, inks, glues, detergents,
pesticides, etc., to protect chemical products from the influence
of the external environment, and prevent leakage and deterioration.
4. Pharmaceutical packaging: used for the packaging of medicines,
such as packaging containers for tablets, capsules, injections,
etc., which can provide good sealing and stability to ensure the
quality and safety of medicines.
5. Other fields: It can also be used for the packaging of
electronic products, daily necessities, toys, stationery, etc.,
such as electronic product shells, battery boxes, cosmetic boxes,
toothpaste tubes, toy packaging boxes, etc.
Market prospects:
As people's performance requirements for packaging materials
continue to increase, corrosion-resistant TFS/tinplate coils occupy
an important position in the packaging market with their excellent
performance and wide application fields. In the future, with the
enhancement of environmental awareness and the requirements of
sustainable development, TFS/tinplate coils will continue to
develop in the direction of green, environmental protection, and
high performance, such as developing thinner coatings, more
environmentally friendly surface treatment processes, and
recyclable composite materials to meet the needs of different
industries while reducing the impact on the environment.

Applications of Tinplate and
TFS |
ETP is primarily used for packaging foodstuffs and beverages, but
it is also used in containers for oils, grease, paints, polishes,
chemicals and many other products. Aerosol containers and caps and
closures are also made from ETP. |
TFS are most frequently used for can tops, screw and lug caps, snap
and press-on closures and shallow-drawn food cans. |
