Construction:

Aluminum wires are concentrically stranded about a steel core. Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or complete cable.

For 220kV and above lines, phase splitting wire is adopted in order to reduce corona loss and corona interference due to large transmission capacity, that is, two or more wires are used for each phase. Conductors are often subjected to various natural conditions in operation, and must have good conductivity, high mechanical strength, light weight, low price, strong corrosion resistance and other characteristics. Because China's aluminum resources are richer than copper, and the price difference between aluminum and copper is large, so almost all steel core aluminum stranded wire. Each conductor shall have only one connector in each distance. Conductors and lightning conductors shall not have connectors in crossing highways, rivers, railways, important buildings, power lines and communication lines.
